Podcast Update
about 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 16, 2021 at 12:21:08 AM

Hey dreamers! Adrian here.

As some of you on the discord and who have listened to the podcast know, I've been in the process of moving into a new home for sometime. I've been settled in the new house since the beginning of the month now, and it's been a pretty great (if exhausting) experience! Unfortunately, not everything is quite done, including some minor electrical work that needs to get done. As such, I've been using my laptop for communication, game dev and other things during this transitional period. My main workstation is where my recording and editing software is at the moment, and that's why there hasn't been a podcast in the last week following our showing at GDEX.

The good news is the electrical work is scheduled and will be done in the near future. The bad news is that until that time, I won't be able to record new episodes for the podcast. It's not going away forever! We enjoy recording it and think it'll be an important and interesting archive in the process of the development of the game. I also want to assure that this hasn't slowed progress of the game's development at all, as porting the development over to this laptop is a fairly easy process and doesn't require as much hard drive space or processing power as media editing tends to do.

At the moment I anticipate the podcast to return sometime in early November. Until that time, we'll continue to update you on the game's progress and other exciting developments as they come up. Thanks for your patience and look forward to the podcast's inevitable return!

Until next time dreamers,

Brainstorming Podcast #22: GDEX Demo Post-Mortem
about 3 years ago – Thu, Sep 23, 2021 at 07:09:16 PM

Hey Dreamers! Adrian here.

Apologies for the late post as there's a lot going on at the moment, such as putting the finishing touches on our GDEX demo. Which is what our podcast episode today is all about!

For those of you who aren't aware, a post-mortem is a sort of 'wrap up' conversation about a particular project; what went right, what went wrong, and how you can apply that information in the future. Here we talk about the process of the GDEX demo, switching to a different level from the Mushroom Forest we had been working for the vertical slice, what our process and pipeline will look like moving forward, and so much more.

Personally speaking, this may be my favorite episode we've recorded. You really get to learn a lot about the process of game development from starting a small project to wrapping it up, and all of the complexities and intricacies that it entails, even in the context of a small demo we put together for a show. I really hope you enjoy it and look forward to hearing from you in the comments or the Discord!

Until next time Dreamers,

~ Adrian
